Tent Camping & Car Camping
Dear Tent Campers & Car Campers,
With Mountain Jam IX only a few days away, we wanted send you a warm welcome and some important information about your upcoming weekend with us!
When & Where to Enter
The festival opens at 9am on Thursday and Friday for Campers. The Box Office closes at 2am on both Thursday and Friday nights. If you arrive after 2am, you will have to wait outside of the venue until the following morning.
Tent Camping & Car Camping Entrance is at the intersection of Route 214 and Ski Bowl Road (click here to see it on Google Maps and to get directions). When approaching from the east (driving west on Route 23A), follow signs for “Car & Tent Camping Next Left” by making a LEFT on Route 214 and then a RIGHT on Ski Bowl Road. DO NOT continue west on Route 23A past Route 214 towards the main Hunter Mountain Entrance (at Klein Avenue). You will be turned around and directed back.
Cars will queue up on Ski Bowl Road facing west before entering the Toll Booth Box Office / Security Check.
Security Check / Getting Your Tickets or Wristbands
Whether you already have your tickets, need to pick them up at Will Call, or need to purchase them, you will continue down the queue on Ski Bowl Road until you reach the intersection of Ski Bowl Road and Klein Avenue, at which point you will be directed into our Toll Booth Box Office and Security Check.
This is where your car will be searched and you will exchange your tickets (or Print Passes) for wristbands. If anyone in your car does not have a ticket yet, this is the place for them to buy one!

Dropping Off Your Gear
From the Toll Booth Box Office and Security Check, you will then be directed up Klein Avenue to the Camping Drop Off location (see the map below) where you will be able to unload your gear near the main festival entrance. One person MUST remain with your vehicle at all times. We recommend leaving a friend at the Camping Drop Off location to watch your gear while someone else goes to park the car.
All General Admission parking is at off-site lots approximately 2 miles away from the main festival gate. If you do not have a Premium Parking Pass, you will be directed to these off-site lots to the west on Route 23A. These off-site lots will be serviced by a continuous parking lot shuttle which will run 3-4 times each hour during the following times:
Thursday: 8:00 AM – 3:15 AM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:15 AM
Saturday: 10:00 AM – 3 :15 AM
Sunday: 10:00 AM – 1:00 AM
Monday: 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
A limited number of Premium Parking Passes will be available on Thursday at the Toll Booth Box Office when you arrive. If you have a Premium Parking Pass, you leave the Toll Booth and turn right onto Ethel Court Road where you will present your Premium Parking Pass and will be parked on-site.
Locked out of your vehicle or stuck and need a tow? Call Absolute Towing at (518) 589-5589.
Getting Into The Campgrounds
Once your car is parked, you will then proceed into the campgrounds. If you need help with your gear, we will have golf cart taxis who will be able to assist you for $5/seat as in the past. We recommend bringing some sort of cart or wagon for all of your gear. Radio Flyers work great! (No, we were not paid by Radio Flyer to recommend their products!)
Some Stuff To Remember About Tent Camping
- Showers are free this year! The shower trailer is open 8am-6pm. Stay clean!
- Please leave at least 10 feet between all tents.
- Please do not set up your tent on the any of the dirt roads in the campgrounds.
If you plan to leave the festival on Sunday, you will have to take your gear on the shuttle buses back to the off-site parking lots. You will not be able to drive your vehicle into the Camping Drop Off circle until Monday morning at 8am. Like load-in, one person must stay with your vehicle at all times. We encourage you to load out using the shuttle buses during the on Sunday day. You can put your things in your car and come back to enjoy the show!

Parking Your Car and Getting Your Campsite
Car Camping Sites are 10′ x 30′ and will be assigned as you arrive with the areas closest to the main concert field being assigned first. The Car Camping Areas (as seen on the map below highlighted in light blue) will be assigned in the following order: Hunter 2, Hunter 1, Tube Town Slope, Tube Town Lot, Riverside West, and finally Riverside East.
IMPORTANT: You will NOT be allowed to choose your own site. Cars will be assigned a site in the order that they arrive. That means that if you want your site next to a friend’s, you must plan to arrive and pull in at the same time (one in front of another). Saving sites for friends will not be allowed.
Some Stuff To Remember About Car Camping
- All Car Camping Sites (10′ x 30′) must have exactly one vehicle on them at all times (no more, and no fewer).
- Running your car engine is not permitted.
- If camping in the Riverside car camping areas, be aware that there is absolutely NO SWIMMING ALLOWED in the Schoharie Creek which is next to Riverside car camping area.
- There are some areas with hard ground or gravel. We advise that you bring metal stakes for your tents.
- Take a good look at our list of “What To Bring & What To Leave At Home“.
REALLY IMPORTANT: Cars will NOT be allowed to drive in and drive out of the Car Camping Areas! We repeat: Cars will NOT be allowed to drive in and drive out of the Car Camping Areas! If you need to drive out before 3pm on Sunday please find a Security Guard the Car Camping Area and be advised that you will NOT be allowed to re-enter with your car.
