The Lumineers Grammy Weekend

First-time Mountain Jam performers, The Lumineers are nominated for two Grammy Awards and will be performing at this Sunday’s award ceremony in Los Angeles which will air at 8pm EST on CBS!

Folk-rock trio the Lumineers formed in 2002 in Ramsey, N.J., when childhood friends Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites turned to writing music as a means to cope with the drug-related death of Fraite’s older brother, Josh Fraites. The duo subsequently relocated to Denver where they met classically trained cellist Neyla Pekarek, who responded to an ad on Craigslist. Following an EP in 2011, the group released their self-titled debut album in 2012. Blending elements of Americana, country, pop, and folk, the album features 11 tracks co-penned by Fraites and Schultz, including the singles “Ho Hey,” “Classy Girls” and “Dead Sea.” The Lumineers, which garnered the trio a 55th GRAMMY nomination for Best Americana Album, peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and “Ho Hey” reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. The trio also received a 55th GRAMMY nomination for Best New Artist.
